Eshet Chayil

A Woman of Valor – Mishelei/Proverbs 31:10…

Sung on Friday night Kabbalat (receiving) of the Shabbat, to honor one’s wife.
But Rashi (11th century) and the Midrash Mishlei identify the “woman” as a metaphor for the Torah.
Others say the woman can represent the Shekinah or the soul.

It is an acrostic – each line begins with the following letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

I neither support or recommend the organization that made the next video, but their rendition of Eshet Chayil is excellent, the best for learners! It has a good voice, good speed, good pronunciation.

This one has some harmony, but no words on the screen:

This is the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) with great harmony, but not the standard tune.
