Whats App Announcements

6/4/2024 – 8:34 pm

To learn the Hebrew Alphabet, I have updated my course that I started back in 1995 or so to be web-based. I will get a video showing the features of the website hopefully this week.

The normal price is $79/year or $9.95/month, but I have a special “Pay What You Want” page for friends and “family” – you choose $20, $40, or $60 per year. https://hebrewgarden.com/join-pay-what-you-want/

Everything not in the “Member-Only Courses” is currently available for free to the public, so you can kind of see how it works.

The “At Home With Hebrew” is the introduction to the reading the Alefbet course. It consists of 13 lessons that take 20-40 minutes each.  The site also includes all recordings
from the Weingreen Biblical Hebrew course.

Adon Olam is available under “Jewish Liturgy” and “Eshet Chail” (Prov 31 Woman of Valor) is available under “Hebrew Scriptures”. I hope to add more liturgy over the next year.

6/4/2024 –  8:36 pm

If you have kids, it’s better for me to an account for each one, if they have an email. After sign-up, send me a message in the WhatsApp group, or email me at NealWalters@NealWalters.com and put “HebrewGarden Family Members” in the subject, and includes names and emails. The software tracks what lessons you have done and automatically takes you to the next lessons. I plan to add some parent tracking in the future.

I will post video about this website, showing the many features and sections, and info about the Hayesod textbook in the next few days.

6/4/2024 – 9;39 pm

Zoom Class – The HaYesod Zoom Class itself will be free, but there’s a catch.
I want to record the classes and put them on my website. You don’t have to use your real name, and you don’t have to have your video on.  But I will have a release form for you to agree before you can be in the class.

I think I will only post class recordings on this HebrewGarden site, so I appreciate if you join it.  Plus I plan to add more liturgy lessons.

Well Labor Day has come and gone.  We will probably start on 9/16.  I’m leaning towards Mondays at 7:00 pm Central – let me know if that works for you or not.

Please respond in the What’s App group if you are really serious about taking the class, include your email so I can send you the ‘release’ for you to digitally sign.  It basically says I can use your voice/video from the Zoom sessions in a course that I sell in the future.  You don’t have to turn on your video in Zoom if you don’t want to.  But you will need to partcipate with voice.

Someone commented: “I’m familiar with this one. It is pretty good, but beginners have found it somewhat intimidating.”

My response:

If it is like my previous Biblical Hebrew – there are serious people and “tire kickers”. Both are welcome.

A person can drop out after 10 or 20 lessons if they want, and still leave with hopefully a lot more Hebrew than they came with.

As my Biblical Hebrew students know, when we get into all the verbs tenses (Binyanim), then it can get more challenging.

Here are some differences in this class and my previous:
Biblical Hebrew – we focused on reading and translating
Modern Hebrew – we will focus on reading and speaking (asking/answering questions for each story).

9/11/2024

Ok everybody! This is the Zoom Link – we will meet this Monday Sept 16 at 7pm Central Time.  We might not get far into the lesson, but everybody can test out their Zoom, audio, video, etc… and introduce themselves.

I will attempt to get all emails I have added to a Google Calendar Invitation in the next week.

(See What’s App – I will repost the link there).

You can connect on a smart phone, but obviously the Hebrew letters and vowels dots will be very small, so I recommend a bigger screen.
